Is Hamilton Available On Netflix
There is no shortage of reasons to get excited about watching the greatness of Hamilton in ones own home, but those that pledge allegiance to Netflix are in for some less than stellar news. The sung-and-rapped-through musical is not available on the streaming service.
But subscribers should not worry as Netflix has several other great musical titles within its extensive library to enjoy that fans will not want to miss. They should also consider some of the other films the streaming powerhouse has on tap that the Golden Globes recognized for their excellence with nominations like The Trial of the Chicago 7, Mank, Hillbilly Elegy, and The Prom.
Moments Missing From The Soundtrack
There are two key moments in the stage production that were not included in the original Broadway cast recording of the soundtrack. The first is the moment in “Dear Theodosia” when Hamilton finds out that John Laurens was killed in South Carolina by British troops who were unaware that the Revolutionary War was over. The second is Eliza’s scream at the end of “Stay Alive – Reprise” Miranda wanted those moments to be felt by a live audience — and now they can be felt in living rooms across the globe! Additionally, to be streamed on the Disney streaming service, two of the show’s three f-bombs were censored to lower the movie’s rating to PG-13, and thus “appropriate viewing” for younger viewers. There are a few other things to look out for in the show if you have only listened to the soundtrack before watching the Disney+ presentation.
Bonus Tracks And The Mixed Tape
Trying to encapsulate a whole life into a two and a half hour musical that also tackles the creation of the nation’s bank and the creation of American democracy is kind of difficult. Needless to say, there are almost a dozen songs that Miranda penned that didn’t make into the final production of the show. Many of those songs can be found on the “Hamilton Mixtape” , but here’s a guide to all of the cut songs and when it makes sense to listen to them within the context of the show soundtrack.
Hamilton is now streaming on Disney+.

A one-minute intermission is built into the running time between the musical’s first and second acts. The act break occurs about one hour and 15 minutes into the film.

The movie version of the musical, which explores the life of Alexander Hamilton during and beyond the American Revolution, has arrived on Disney’s streaming service far earlier than its anticipated October 2021 release date.
The official trailer shows the Broadway production’s original cast from 2015 returning to the stage for the movie performance.

Ticket Lottery And Ham4ham
Hamilton, like some other Broadway musicals, offers a ticket lottery before every show. Initially, 21 front-row seats were offered in each lottery. Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda began preparing and hosting outdoor mini-performances shortly before each daily drawing, allowing lottery participants to experience a part of the show even when they did not win tickets. These were dubbed the “Ham4Ham” shows, because lottery winners were given the opportunity to purchase two tickets at the reduced price of one Hamilton each.
The online theatrical journal HowlRound characterized Ham4Ham as an expression of Miranda’s cultural background:
Ham4Ham follows a long tradition of Latina/o theatremaking that dates back to when the events in Hamilton were happening. … The philosophy behind this is simple. If the people won’t come to the theatre, then take the theatre to the people. While El Teatro Campesino‘s ‘taking it to the streets’ originated from a place of social protest, Ham4Ham does so to create accessibility, tap into social media, and ultimately generate a free, self-functioning marketing campaign. In this way, Ham4Ham falls into a lineage of accessibility as a Latina/o theatremaking aesthetic.
