There Is One Original Cast Member Who’s Down To Return
Zac Efron’s TV dad has voiced his enthusiasm about reprising his role of Coach Bolton many times on social media. He’s even pitched his own idea for a spinoff starring Coach Bolton and Ms. Darbus.
“I got a bone to pick with that W. High coach and Ms. d and the drama department can help me get even,” he wrote on Instagram. “I though that kooky Sharpay nut job was coming back to help out with the actor weirdos anyway. Where she at tho? I still got those digits form the school database so lets ring crazy up and get her and her bro back to put this dance battle together and LETS GO!! Im ready and Ive got YEARS worth of plans and ideas moving forward in the East vs West battle so LET GOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!”
It’s Going To Star Five Brand New Characters
Although HSM4 won’t be following Troy, Gabriella and the crew in favor of getting to know a brand new gang of East High students, you’ll definitely see some similarities between the original cast of characters and the newbies.
Erin A badass soccer player who strives for excellence and the only girl on the boys’ team. She starts falling for Derek, the bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks, but isn’t sure whether to follow her heart.
Derek The resident bad boy who falls for Erin. He’s tough as nails on the surface but is a soft-hearted family guy deep down. He’s an excellent soccer player and incredible dancer who teaches dance classes to little girls at his family’s studio.
Campbell Troy Bolton 2.0, Campbell is a super hot soccer captain and theater star who also happens to be Sharpay and Ryan Evans’ cousin. He decides that he wants to date Erin, and isn’t too happy when she wants to be with Derek instead.
Nathalie East High’s biggest fan. She’s a loyal, outgoing cheerleader and big-hearted BFF to Erin.
Tamara East High’s former queen bee who’s attempting to climb back up the social ladder.

When Does High School Musical: The Series Take Place
High School Musical 3: Senior Year saw the group go off to college so the original gang is not really expected to be sticking around as students unless they were to return as teachers or visiting alum, that is. So while there is no exact word on when the new series takes place, it looks like the High School Musical: The Musical: The Series is set in the present moment. And with a new cast and a new storyline, the series has the makings of a fresh production for new fans to enjoy.
What Will Happen In Hsmtms Season 2
Season 2 will likely pick up right where season 1 left off and, as Miss Jenn teased, the students will find out that the spring musical is Beauty and the Beast and we will see the students auditioning for it and rehearsing for it. We will also find out if Nini accepts her offer, if she tells Ricky and how that affects their relationship in the long run.
Elsewhere, we imagine that Kourtney will actually audition for the musical now that we know how great her singing voice is. We’ll also see Big Red and Ashlyn’s relationship unfold now that they’ve kissed, and more of Carlos and Seb. Plus, we can’t wait to find out what’s next for E.J. and Gina.
Whether or not we’ll see more spark fly between Ricky and Gina, Tim Federle told ET: “I know weve got some Rina stans out there, and Im hoping this show has five or seven seasons so well see where they all end up.” He also said we’ll see more of Miss Jenn’s “romantic situation”.

With Derek Houghs Zack Roy out of the running for Miss Jenns heart, the only thing holding her back from Mr. Bowen is Mr. Mazzara , who expressed his feelings to her at the cast party. Hsm: The Musical: The Series Season 2 Ending & New Story Setup Explained
The season 2 finale of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series sets up several new stories, but leaves one key question unanswered.
The finale ofHigh School Musical: The Musical: The Series season 2 sets up a number of new stories, and hints at plans for season 3, but leaves one important question unanswered. A spinoff from the movie franchise of the same name, HSMTMTS branched out in its sophomore outing. Rather than recreate High School Musical 2, as many viewers anticipated that the series might do, HSMTMTS merely gestures toward that direction for its premiere before charting a different path. The students of East High have been focused on staging a production of Beauty and the Beast instead, hoping to earn a nomination from the Alan Menken Awards for High School Musical Theater.
The top prize is $50,000, which goes to the winning schools theater program, in addition to a college scholarship for one student. Its acted as a big motivation for the students, and their drama teacher Miss Jenn , but its also given momentum to the second season of HSMTMTS as a whole. Showing it can move beyond its connection to the High School Musical movies, the Disney+ show examined its supporting characters more thoroughly during its second installment and its shaken up the core relationships that viewers have grown familiar with.
Sofia Wylie Is Like My Other Sister
Working on HSMTMTS was like a reunion in many ways for Angel, including getting reacquainted with Utah, where he and Wylie filmed Andi Mack.
They didnt actually film Wylie’s and Angels scenes inside Salt Lake Citys airport you can thank computer magic for that. The crew took over a big building and made it look exactly like an airport, he said.
The show appears to leave an Easter egg for fans when Jack asks Gina, Have we met? Because you look super familiar.
Though the episode teases a possible blooming romance between the two characters, as well as a first kiss for Gina, nothing comes of their airport friendship and what Angel called on-screen chemistry. Jack lives one state over, in Denver, after all.
Their real-life counterparts will continue to have a friendship, though.
Working together again was kind of surreal, Angel said. The last time I saw Sofia was probably before High School Musical probably three years, two years, before that. So getting to see her all grown up and an amazing woman and I think her acting is just kind of amazing, kind of off the charts now.
We had the best time were buddies. We joke around with each other shes like my other sister, he added.
Wylie reciprocates the sentiment. In April, she told The Republic: It was nice to have my childhood buddy back. … He’s incredible.

Who Is In The Cast Of The High School Musical Series
While the original cast members of High School Musical will not appear in the Disney+ show, the series sees another high school putting on a version of the original High School Musical, meaning that cast members will be both playing themselves and versions of original characters like Troy , Gabriella and Sharpay .
Playing Troy and Gabriella in the in-universe version of High School musical will be Nini and her class clown ex-boyfriend Ricky, who auditions for the musical in order to try and win her back. They will be played by actress Olivia Rodrigo from Disney’s Bizaardvark and Grey’s Anatomy actor Joshua Bassett.
Other characters include E.J , described by Deadline as, “Nini’s new love interest, the type of ambitious entrepre-nerd who brings homemade props to auditions,” while Julia Lester of Mom plays Ashlyn, whose “mouthy attitude covers ‘new kid’ self-doubt.” Also appearing in the show are Sofia Wylie as Gabriella understudy Gina, and Larry Saperstein as Ricky’s wingman Big Red.

Who Won At The Menkie Awards

High School Musical: The Series Release Date Cast And Plot
Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, living somewhere without television or cable , and/or completely switched off to pop culture, chances are you would have heard of High School Musical or HSM. The runaway hit attracted 7.7 million viewers in five million households when it debuted on the Disney Channel in 2006 . It went on to spawn a No. 1 album on iTunes, a top 10 hit on Billboard’s Hot 100 singles chart, and two spinoffs. High School Musical 2 followed in the footsteps of the original HSM and debuted on the Disney Channel, while HSM3: Senior Year was a theatrical release as well as countless stage productions around the world.
High School Musical was all about an athletic boy meeting a smart girl who turns out to be his new schoolmate, and they go on to play the leads of the school musical even if they’ve never sung in public before . High School Musical, and its hit song Breaking Free, was originally aimed at attracting viewers between 10 to 14, but catchy music and solid dance moves choreographed by veteran Kenny Ortega turned the movie into what the New York Times called the Grease for the tween set. Now, this millennial hit is set to make a comeback.

Who Will Be In The Hsmtmts Season 2 Cast

So you can expect to see Olivia Rodrigo , Joshua Bassett , Matt Cornett , Sofia Wylie , Larry Sapperstein , Julia Lester , Dara Renée , Frankie Rodriguez , Mark St Cyr. and Kate Reinders again.
It’s currently unclear how Olivia Rodrigo will feature if Nini accepts her offer to study at a performing arts school, but we don’t think she will be leaving the series anytime soon. As for Sofia Wylie’s character Gina moving to Salt Lake City, HSMTMTS showrunner Tim Federle told ET: “It’s hard for me to imagine doing season two without Sofia Wylie.” In other words, she’s almost definitely coming back.
Tim also revealed that “Seb is stepping up as a series regular” so we’ll be seeing Joe Serafini in every episode in season 2. He then hinted that “there are new faces and people to meet” in season 2 as well.

How Asher Angel Ended Up On Hsmtmts
Asher Angels 2020 went much like most peoples: at home scrolling on TikTok with most work put on pause. In May, his family helped him film a music video for his song Guilty, and he took the extended time at home to work on myself and my craft.
At some point, his old Andi Mack producer, Greg Hampson, reached out to Angel and asked whether he would want to join the upcoming season of HSMTMTS.
I was intrigued by the idea, Angel told The Republic.
We did it, and filming went amazing. Getting to work with Sofia, getting to be on set and that atmosphere and that same crew and the cast I had so much fun,” he said.

Will Any Of The Og High School Musical Stars Appear In It
As fans know, a few of the OG stars including Lucas Grabeel and KayCee Stroh appeared in Season 1, and boy, was it epic. So will any of the original cast members visit East High during Season 2? Well, Federle told DigitalSpythat potentially we could see some familiar faces.
Theres a big fanbase of people who loved the originals and came to check our show and saw that we paid great homage to the original, he explained. But Ive also been somewhat surprised and heartened to discover that theres a fanbase that truly comes to the show for Ricky and Gina and Nini, for these new characters and new songs. I have also wanted to take the pressure off myself, for it to be such a High School Musical-palooza, and trust that these new cast members especially are compelling and appealing enough to really bet on them, more than bells and whistles.
He also told them in a previous interview, I think that Im always looking to expand the kind of guest star cast, just because I think its so fun to see people pop up on the show If you happen to be out and see Zac Efron, please mention it to him. Id love for him to give me a call.
Previously, Efron did say that he would be down to make an appearance in the show.
Absolutely, 100 percent. I dont see why not, he told Extra TV. Im not, like, committing to it I didnt know there was , but thats awesome.
