I’m Confused How Is Apple Music Different Than Itunes
iTunes is a free app to manage your music library, music video playback, music purchases and device syncing. Apple Music is an ad-free music streaming subscription service that costs $10 per month, $15 a month for a family of six or $5 per month for students.
Apple Music closely competes with Spotify and you can listen to songs offline across your devices.
Check The Checkboxes Setting
If your songs are grayed out but can be played still, you can try to use this method.
Step 1. You need to open Apple Music or iTunes and go to Library > Songs to see whether there is a check near the song.
Step 2. If you do not see the check, go to the menu bar and choose Music > Preferences on Mac or choose iTunes > Preferences on a PC.
Step 3. Go to General > Songs list checkboxes. Click OK.
Get To Know Ios 10’s New Music App
Alongside a long list of new features on iOS 10 comes a redesigned Music app. Here’s what you need to know.
Last year, Apple Music launched alongside a redesigned Music app on iOS, and let’s just be honest: the app was horrible. It was difficult to navigate, confusing and it lacked key features . Apple has improved the app here and there throughout the year, but with iOS 10, the Music app has been completely redone.
It’s going to take some getting used to, but a couple months into using iOS 10 and I think this version of the Music app more intuitive and far better than last year’s version.

Tip #3 Restart Your Phone
Generally spoken, restarting your phone or computer can make it perform better and fix some common issues. It almost always works.
Some occasional Apple Music issues such as crashing, not responding, slow streaming, glitching, etc. happen for various reasons. And one of the possible reasons is your phone has been on for a long time and lots of apps are running in the background at the same time. As a result, these background apps eat up the RAM on your phone and there’s not enough room for the Apple Music app to load.
After you restart your mobile phone, all of the RAM data is cleared out and the apps and programs are rebooted. This frees up more RAM space on your device to load apps quicker.

Enable And Assign Star Ratings In Itunes On Mac
In iTunes on your Mac, star ratings dont have to be enabled like on iPhone and iPad. You should see the Rating column in your music Library. If not, do the following:
1) In your Library, right-click one of the column headers.
2) Click Rating in the drop-down box for available columns. You can select, drag, and drop the column to a new spot if you like.
To assign a star rating, just in that Rating column for the song.

Option : Use A Smart Playlist For Your Library
The easiest way to keep a collection of your loved songs is to create a Smart Playlist on your computer. That way, you can make iTunes or the Music app automatically add loved songs to it whether they’re or in iCloud Music Library.
There is a catch, however. This option only works for songs you already have in or have added to your library. You can love songs on Apple Music without adding them to your library, and you can even add those songs to playlists, but unless you add them to your library, the Smart Playlist won’t grab those songs.
If you add every song you like to your library, then I’d suggest the Smart Playlist route. Fire up iTunes on macOS or Windows. If you’re running macOS 10.15 Catalina or higher, iTunes doesn’t exist, so open up Music instead the process is the same as in iTunes, so there are no changes aside from the app name.
Next, click “File” in the menu bar, then “New,” and “Smart Playlist.”
Next, ensure the checkmark next to “Match” is enabled, then choose “music” from the dro-down. You can keep it at “all media” too, but music videos may also appear in your playlist. Afterward, click “Artist” and make sure “Love” is selected instead. Ensure “is” is chosen in the middle drop-down and “Loved” drop-down on the right.
You can also choose to add custom cover art for the playlist by clicking on the art and selecting from default images, recent pictures, or from anywhere else on your hard drive.
What Does A Star In Apple Music Mean
Apple has previously explained why a star actually appears in Apple Music, but it does not seem to have satisfied users. This is because the company has only offered a short statement stating that these are just hot tracks.
Ideally, a star icon is generally assigned to songs based on their performance. This has mainly to do with how popular the track is, and whether it is the most track from an album. Previously, the company had previous star ratings for the tracks, where users also had the opportunity to rate their favorite songs. However, the star rating feature has been removed by Apple.

Although the feature no longer exists, the new star icon helps users identify all the popular songs from the library. However, the company has not given any details on how many games it actually takes for a slot to earn the star symbol. The app also offers a dedicated section for users where they can discover the most played tracks on the app. The service has been called Apple Music for Artists and gives users a detailed insight into the tracks, including the total number of times they were played, along with other details such as purchases and average daily listeners.

could you please tell me what the word clean means on some of my podcast downloads. it appears on the title line in a box |clean|
It means that the podcast does not contain any offensive material . It is optional for the publisher to provide the clean tag.
It means the lyrics are clean, aka not explicit. No swear words. They are probably beeped out or replaced.
Can you please tell me how to move songs up or down in playlists. It shows an edit feature that works in an old playlist, but not since I updated to 9.3.1. Thank you.
After selecting the playlist, select edit as you describe. If on an iDevice, touch the song on the right edge, and drag it to your required order.
If using OSX, there is no edit. Select the playlist, select songs , and then drag the song with your mouse/trackpad using again, the right edge of the song.
Greg,What you say does work that way in my old playlist in version 8.4 as I noted, but does not work in the 9.3.1 version. Thats the problem, and I wonder if Apple is working on a solution for the new version. Thanks for your prompt reply.
Wow! Thanks for the feedback. Very much appreciated!

A Smart Playlist is created based on criteria you select, including the rating you assigned to songs. For example, you can create a Smart Playlist that includes all songs you’ve rated 5 stars. It even automatically adds new songs to the playlist as you rate them 5 stars.

Within standard playlists you’ve already created, you can order songs by rating. To do this, click a playlist to select it and click Edit Playlist. In the playlist editing window, click Sort by Manual Order and then click Rating. Click Done to save the new order.

how many plays does it take to get a star by one of my songs ?
A lot of people on the Apple community are unhappy about this feature, with one user explaining: Apple thinks you should like that song. They dont understand we can make our own decisions and that it is actually annoying..
Another says, So, Apple no longer lets us rate our own songs, but they let other people tell us. So much for freedom of choice. Im going back to iOS9.
Users are hoping to see the star feature updated or improved on the next Apple iOS version.
