What Is The Preferred Speaker Set
You can set a preferred speaker of a smart home group to stream to with Alexa, play music. The preferred speaker can be an Echo device, a speaker from Bose or Sonos, a multi-room music group, or a speaker set. Just tap on preferred speaker at the bottom of your smart home group to configure it.
Note, the preferred speaker settings are only for music playback.
Listen To Radio On Alexa
Though availability varies around the world, you can listen to most radio stations that broadcast a feed to the internet.
In the UK, for example, theres TuneIn, Global Player and Planet Radio. These are configured in the same way as a music streaming service, but some dont require you to have an account to use them.
To listen to BBC stations, for example, just say Alexa, play Radio 4. You may, if this is the first time youve tried, have to say Alexa, open BBC Sounds first. But on subsequent occasions, that isnt necessary.
Planet Radio, despite the name, offers access to UK radio stations such as KISS FM, Magic and many others.
Usefully, youre not limited to listening live: these services also allow you to listen to shows on demand.

Can Alexa Play Local Radio Stations
There’s a chance Alexa can already play your favorite local station without the need for any skills try saying, “Alexa, play .” You can request stations by name, frequency, or call letters.
