How To Use Bose Sleepbuds For Music

Are The Bose Sleepbuds Ii Worth The Money

WHY WOULD YOU EVER BUY Bose Sleepbuds II Do they Work? How to Setup Use SO YOU CAN FINALLY SLEEP

The Sleepbuds II costs around $250 per pair, which can be steep, considering what it can and cannot do.

For one, the Sleepbuds II provides superb passive sound isolation, thanks to its design. It stays in place when you sleep, so you dont miss out on alarms or essential calls.

The Sleepbuds II allows you to divert your phones alarm and call alerts to the earbuds. If youre waiting for an urgent call or need to wake up at a particular time without disturbing people in the room, the Sleepbuds II will come in handy for this purpose.

While call alerts are diverted to your headphones, unfortunately, you cannot use them for calls. That means having to take off your earbuds before answering the call.

And while the Sleepbuds II is known for good sound isolation, it can only go as far as playback sounds and relaxing music from the Bose Sleep app and alerting you. If you curate a Spotify playlist to help you with this, unfortunately, the Sleepbuds II doesnt work with other apps.

Are The Sleepbuds Ii Better At Blocking Snoring

The Sleepbuds II does a great job of blocking snoring and other noise in your environment, but there may be some noise that it can suppress but not block entirely.

You can expect that the Sleepbuds II may block honking cars on the street or people talking loudly near your window. The Sleepbuds II feature passive noise canceling, which already does an excellent job in blocking out noise.

On top of that, the Bose Sleep app also assists you in tuning out outside noise by letting you play different relaxing sounds.

This app features two categories that help you relax. The Naturescapes sounds feature earthly sounds, such as rain and other calming sounds that you hear from nature.

Theres also a Tranquilities sound selection featuring soothing music selections for those who prefer sleeping with music.

These sounds from Bose are preloaded on the Sleepbuds II, and if you need more sounds, you can then check the app.

How Do Sleepbuds Ii Affect My Ability To Hear Smoke Alarms A Child Crying Intruders Etc

Sleepbuds II are designed to mask unwanted nighttime noise and disturbances. Because of this, they can affect your ability to hear other sounds, such as alarms, warning systems, people, or pets.

To balance the levels of noise masking and awareness desired, you can set an appropriate volume level for your needs within the Bose Sleep app. The volume should be high enough to mask disturbing noises, but not so high that you cant confidently be awoken by the sounds you want to hear. If you are still concerned about your ability to hear sounds while wearing Sleepbuds II, you may want to take alternative measures, such as relying on a partner, wearing only one earbud, or scheduling the masking sound timer.

Hacking The Bose Sleepbuds

Edit: Bose have discontinued the SleepBuds and are offering everyone a full refund if they return them. As such, Im not going to spend any more time trying to hack the Bose Sleep app.

This is going to be a pretty niche post, Im mainly putting this information up so I can find it later if I need to, and it may be useful to a couple of other people who have Bose Sleepbuds.

For those who arent familiar with what they are, Sleepbuds are tiny in-ear devices that work partly as an ear plug to block outside sounds and partly as in-ear earphones to mask outside sounds. They are completely wireless, and each bud is positively tiny, so they can sit in your ear, even if youre sleeping on your side at night. They have a claimed battery life of 16 hours of continuous playback, however they cant play music off your phone or stream audio off the internet. They have memory in each bud that stores a pre-made sound library, you select a sound via the app on your phone before you go to sleep and then that sound loops, either on a set timer, or continuously all night long. They have a very nicely built storage/charging case each bud magnetically locates itself in the case when you put it back so the charging pins are aligned correctly and they dont fall out.

What Is The Difference Between Bose Sleepbuds 1 And 2

Bose Sleepbuds Review: They Ruined My Sleep

As mentioned above, the first version had significant problems with its battery which is now replaced with a different type.

The Bluetooth antenna has been upgraded, and Bose claims to have changed the outer material to prevent the plugs from rubbing against the pillow at night.

The ability to mask noise has become even better thanks to a new speaker inside, better passive noise canceling, and more masking sounds.

What Are The Bose Sleepbuds

In short, this product is designed people who just cant get to sleep without some added noise help. Bose created a set of truly wireless earbuds that exist to drown out the air conditioner, tinnitus, or really any unwanted noise around you. Earplugs alone arent up to the task if you have tinnitus, so this is a one-size-fits-all solution for insomniacs out there.

The batteries may take forever to charge, but they also last longer than any truly wireless earbuds on the market.

Unlike other truly wireless earbuds, they arent built to listen to music as you sleep, no: they only work with the Bose Sleep app. There, you can choose between a number of ambient recordings for you to zonk out to. Basically, a white noise machine that wont annoy your partner .

While I would have preferred some sort of noise-cancelling or more effective isolation, I understand why this was impossible. Basically, its all about comfort: having little earbuds jammed deep in your ear canal can be distractingly uncomfortable, so Bose elected to not risk poking your sensitive ear bits with a large nozzle. The buds will sit just outside your ear canal, held in place by a helix fin so they dont fall out if you toss and turn.

How Long Does It Take To Load A New Sound To My Sleepbuds Ii And Will I Need To Delete A Sound To Make Room

The transfer time depends on the mobile device and the size of the sound file. While most transfers should take less than 10 minutes, transferring a large file on an older device may take up to an hour. Bose recommends initiating the transfer early to ensure its complete by bedtime.

Sleepbuds II store sound files directly on each of the Sleepbuds. Because of the small form factor of Sleepbuds II, the amount of storage is limited. Sleepbuds II will reach a point when memory is full, and you will need to delete one or more sound files before adding a new one. The requirement to delete a sound is based on the combined size of all of the sounds on Sleepbuds II, not on the number of sounds. The size of each sound file varies. The Bose Sleep app will tell you when you need to delete a sound or sounds before transferring a new one from the Sound Library.

Bose Noise-Masking Sleepbuds Review – How Do They Work?

The Bose SleepBuds II connect to your smartphone via low-energy Bluetooth, which is then used to control and transfer sounds to the buds via the Bose Sleep app. And no, thats not a fancy way of describing audio streaming the soundscapes on offer from the Bose Sleep app are literally stored on the buds, rather than being played from your phone.

Using the Bose Sleep app for iOS and Android is generally a stress-free experience. The buds will connect to the smartphone automatically once removed from the case, albeit sometimes after as long as 20 seconds, and from there, you can browse the selection of sleep-focused sounds to help you drift away to the land of nod.

There are 40 tracks split across three genres to choose from: Noise Masking, Naturescapes and Tranquilities. Noise Masking sounds aim to reduce or completely mask any external noises like snoring or a busy road that can wake you up and Naturescapes use natural soundscapes like a cascading waterfall or the sound of crashing waves to help you drift off.

Both are fairly similar, especially considering many of the noise masking sounds are nature-based, like a blowing breeze or the sound of rainfall in a forest, but that certainly cant be said for the third category, Tranquilities.

That all sounds great, but sadly, the SleepBuds II experience isnt perfect.

Bose Sleepbuds Ii Cannot Play Your Regular Music Or Take Phone Calls As They Are Only Designed To Offer Better Sleep

Bose Sleepbuds II are offered in a single off-white colour

  • Bose Sleepbuds II are priced at Rs. 20,900
  • They can deliver six hours of battery life on a single charge
  • Bose Sleepbuds II work with the Bose Sleep app

Bose Sleepbuds II true wireless stereo earbuds have been launched in India. They were originally launched in the US and other regions back in September last year and have now made their way to the Indian market. Bose Sleepbuds II are offered in a single colour option and have a wingtip-style design. Bose conducted sleep studies to test the merits of the Sleepbuds II which showed that all participants believed snoring and urban noise were blocked by the earbuds and 76 percent felt it was easier to stay asleep with them on.

What Sounds Are Integrated Into The Sleepbuds

Bose divides the sounds you can choose from into three categories white noise masking, natural landscape, and peaceful. The first two noise images are not very different from each other, and the last one is relaxing music of the kind you can get served at a spa or similar places.

The different audio tracks are also stored in the earbuds, and you have room for about ten tracks at a time. If you want to add something new, you must remove something else.

Since Sleepbuds only has so-called Bluetooth LE, low-energy Bluetooth, you get a reasonably low transfer speed. If you want to add new sounds, it can, in theory, take as much as 10-20 minutes, but I did not experience anything more than a couple of minutes.

The combination of noise reduction and masking is good and also somewhat better than the previous model.

One thing that was a little annoying in the first version was that some of the soundtracks were too short, and you could hear a small break every time a sound started over. I was interrupted a few times from sleeping in by focusing on the breaks.

I have tried to identify the breaks in the Sleepbuds 2, but this problem seems to have been solved. Bose has either made the transitions almost perfect or increased the length of each sound.

Bose itself claims that Sleepbuds II produces more sound at the lower frequencies that are beneficial for noise masking than the first generation did, and I have to agree.

The company says its headband headphones last up to 10 hours on a single charge, which means they should last the entire night.

Sleep Well With A Bose Sleepbuds Daylight Savings Deal

Make sure you’re deep in slumber for daylight savings this year, with a pair of Bose Sleepbuds…

Getting enough sleep is very important, and sometimes drowning out the sound of the world working 24/7 can be a hindrance. Bose has the perfect solution, with its premium Sleepbuds earbuds designed to give you a good night’s sleep, irrespective of your neighbor’s noisy dog, or the traffic rushing by outside.

Oh, and it’s got a fantastic deal on them, too…

Bose Sleepbuds Ii Review: Helping You Get Those Eight Hours

Inconsistent battery performance and some design flaws lead to Bose discontinuing their first iteration of the Bose Sleepbuds a few years ago. Which was disappointing. Its an incredible concept having some buds designed and in complete dedication to getting quality sleep, as opposed to music -playing in-ear phones that also threw in a bunch of sleep-focused ambient sounds every now and then.

Luckily, then, that Bose never gave up on the idea. Hence, the Bose Sleepbuds II, which were released last year and have since become one of the most necessary fusions of technology and sleeping aids on the market.

These wing-tipped earbuds are only made for sleeping, which make them quite unique when were talking about the worlds biggest audio brands.

Poor App For A Good Product

Considering the SleepBuds cost a whopping $250, the app that supports them should be a lot better. Why can my iPad detect my AirPods and Jabras instantly, but this app takes MANY seconds to find the SleepBuds and sometimes fails to find them entirely? Why are other audio apps controllable from the lock screen but not this one? Why do I have to unlock my iPad and navigate to the app to control the SleepBud volume with a slider rather than just use my volume rocker? This all seems like pretty basic stuff to me, that other apps manage fine. Other stuff: you can only listen to Bose sleep sounds on the SleepBuds. I dont see why you cant have a seamless experience of listening to whatever you want on the SleepBuds before sleep, then turning on Boses sounds. Talk about a nanny app! And I find way too many of the available sounds too busy and/or high-pitched. Theres only one or two I can stand to listen to. There might be good reason for other stuff thats also inconvenient, like having to take time to load sounds ONTO your SleepBuds rather than simply stream it , but the whole interface is just needlessly frustrating and complex, which is not conducive to a relaxed pre-sleep state. The SleepBuds themselves are great, but hampered by this crappy app.

Bose Sleepbuds 2 Awake From Battery Nightmare Refreshed

Bose Noise Masking SleepBuds Removing And Adding Sounds

These improved bedtime earbuds include design and performance upgrades as well as more sounds.

The Sleepbuds 2 ship Oct. 6 and cost $249.

Fans of Bose’s Sleepbuds rejoice: Your favorite sleep earbuds are back in a next-generation model featuring “demonstrably better noise masking,” according to Bose. It’ll also come with new categories of content to combat your inability to relax. The Sleepbuds 2 arrive Oct. 6 for $250 , the same price as the original Sleepbuds, which were discontinued last year following months of customer complaints citing battery issues.

While the tiny Sleepbuds 2 look similar to their predecessor, they combine a new acoustic and electronics design along with a new enclosure and tips. Bose has dropped its cutting-edge silver-zinc battery that caused all the problems in favor of a more conventional nickel-metal hydride battery that doesn’t offer as much battery life , but should be more reliable. Bose says the design of the charging case has also improved.

Like the original, the new Sleepbuds don’t play music or allow you to take calls. They simply pipe in various forms of soothing white noise to mask out unpleasant sounds such as big-city street noise. They also let you set a morning wake-up alarm that won’t disturb your sleeping partner. While they don’t offer active noise cancellation, their tight seal passively reduces ambient noise.

The new charging case.

Battery Life & Charging Case

The battery of the Bose sleepbuds lasts for up to 16 hours. If you wear them overnight, that means you should get two full nights out of the sleepbuds before you have to recharge them. As a sleep solution, I think 16 hours of battery life is plenty because you can put them back into their charging case when you wake up.

The charging case features a built-in battery to recharge the sleepbuds while you are traveling, but Bose recommends keeping the case connected to power using the provided micro-USB cable and AC adapter.

In case you wonder, it takes approximately three hours to charge the empty case without the sleepbuds inside. With the sleepbuds inside the case, charging times varies, according to Bose.

Whats convenient about the charging case is their magnetic connectors that hold the sleepbuds securely in place while they are charging. That reduces the risk of losing the sleepbuds if the case cover slides open while in your backpack. Additionally, the case has a non-slip rubber bottom to prevent it from sliding off your nightstand.
