Play Spotify Music On Apple Watch
Once Spotify is installed on your watch, you can launch it at any time by tapping the app’s icon on your Apple Watch’s home screen. In addition, playing music from the Spotify app on your iPhone will usually auto-launch it on your Watch.
Anything you play will start playing on your iPhone. You can press the devices icon underneath the player controls to pick another device to stream on including your Apple Watch if you have headphones connected. You can’t play music through your Apple Watch’s speakers.
There’s also no way to play Spotify on your Apple Watch offline. You can play it while you’re away from your iPhone, but you’ll still need to be connected to Wi-Fi or LTE internet.
Displaying Album Artwork On Stream
If you want to display the album artwork on your stream while youre playing music via Spotify, open the Snip software and right-click the Snip icon on the toolbar. Be sure to click the option show album artwork. Beneath this option, you can set the size of the album artwork, choosing between small, medium, and large.
Spotify Streaming Rules: How Does Spotify Count Plays
Spotify has a large number of streaming rules, with some being fairly obvious and some being much more behind the scenes. Ive researched all the ways that Spotify counts plays and streams, and wrote about it here for you.
Spotify counts a stream once a song has been listened to for 30 seconds. Streams will be counted after 30 seconds even if the song is on repeat but will not be counted if the Spotify app is muted.
So, when streaming music on Spotify, make sure you listen to a song for at least 30 seconds before skipping it if you would like that stream to count towards that artists stats.
However, with that said, there are additional streaming rules that can affect an artists behind-the-scenes Spotify stats when it comes to how long a song is listened to and how the listener interacts with the Spotify app before, during, and after listening to a song.
For a deep dive into Spotifys streaming rules, simply keep on reading, my friend.

Make Sure You Have The Rights To Use Your Material
If youve used samples in your track or any melody that you didnt write, you have to obtain a copyright license to use that material.
Otherwise, your release could be delayed or taken down.
To prove you have the right to use someone elses material, youll have to include proof of rights and payment confirmations for licensed material.
Getting proof of rights requires you to get in contact with the rights holders of any samples or melodies you used and obtain a license.
If you dont include these in your distribution release information, you may receive an email from your distribution provider asking for more information.
What Is Lossless Or Spatial Audio
Lossless audio quality is the new holy grail marketing term for music streaming apps in 2021, kind of like the megapixel wars of digital SLR cameras in the 2000s. Most popular music services use a form of lossy compression, which encodes music files and discards less distinguishable bits of data in the song, so that files take up far less storage space.
Lossless compression, by comparison, keeps every bit of data, so you won’t miss a single nuance from that live recording. A lossless music file generally streams at 1,411 Kbps, compared to a more typical lossy file that generally streams from around 256 Kbps to 320 Kbps.
You may also see the term spatial audio, which is a feature that Apple Music recently added. Spatial audio uses Dolby Atmos technology to allow artists to mix music so that you hear the sound from around you and above, for a much more immersive quality. However, you will need Apple-made headphones with an H1 or W1 chip to enjoy it.

Apple Music has a key advantage over Spotify in that you can combine the songs you already own with the Apple Music streaming catalog. Siri users also get more robust voice controls for playback. Like Spotify, Apple Music has playlists that serve up songs based on your listening habits, but you can also listen to the Beats 1 Radio stations with human DJs at the helm. It also offers lossless audio and Dolby Atmos spatial audio support on select songs.

Don’t Screw Up Your Spotify Wrapped
Private listening has another benefit: not messing up your Spotify Wrapped. In 2020, many people found that their most-streamed music of the year included the ambient sounds they listened to while falling asleep, or endless hours of “Baby Shark” for the toddlers in the home. Stuff you listen to in a Private Session doesn’t factor into Spotify’s recommendations, or Spotify Wrapped, so before you doze to rain sounds for 2 hours, open up a private session. If you have a Spotify Premium Family plan, meanwhile, download the Spotify Kids app to keep their tunes separate from yours.

Most importantly, you must upload a minimum 3000 x 3000-pixel image thats formatted as a .JPEG.
You also must use a quality image that isnt pixelated, doesnt use explicit images and doesnt include a URL or any content you dont have the right to use.

How To Connect Spotify With Ps5
Spotify is officially available on PS5 and integrates well with Play Stations latest iteration. You simply need to download the app and log in with your Spotify credentials to start listening.
Before we begin, note that PS5 supports Spotify only in a limited number of countries. Make sure you go through the list before starting with the setup process.
1: Download Spotify
Lets start with installing the app on PS5, power up your PS5, and log in to your PS account. Scroll to find the All Apps button under Media, and select Spotify from the list of options. Press the X button on the Controller to start downloading. Once the download is finished, open the app.
2: Log into Your Spotify on PS5
Now, log in to the Spotify account by pressing the login button using the controller. The good thing about Spotify is that it makes login in extremely seamless if you have a smartphone with Spotify logged in. You can use the traditional route and log in using the email address and password. I prefer the smartphone method.
Open the Spotify app on your smartphone and play a song. Now, tap the Listening On button at the bottom left of the app to bring up a list of all the local devices in your home network. Choose PS5 from the list of options.
PS5 would prompt you to accept and agree to the terms so press X to confirm.
Listen Together With A Group Session
Dance parties were few and far between in 2020, meaning fewer chances to play DJ or just hang out and listen to music. But with a Group Session on Spotify, Premium users can jam out, or listen to a podcast, together. On the play screen, click the Connect icon on the bottom left. Scroll down and tap Start a group session, which wil produce a URL you can share with your friends or family. Or have them scan the Spotify code to join the session. Everyone can then pause, play, skip, and select tracks on the queue as well as add in their own tunes.

I recently wrote that you shouldnt have huge expectations about sound quality improvements when upgrading from Spotify Premium to the upcoming lossless HiFi tier. The gist of it is that the vast majority of people including audio enthusiasts cannot tell the difference between lossless audio and lossy encoded at a high enough bitrate audio.
But that argument makes one important assumption: you are already listening to Spotify Premium with optimal settings.
The highest bitrate supported by the streaming platform is 320 kbps, which should be largely indistinguishable from lossless, but in most cases, the streaming app does not guarantee this playback quality.
On most devices, Spotify defaults to a variable Automatic setting and offers four fixed playback tiers: 24 kbps , 96 kbps , 160 kbps , and 320 kbps .
You might assume Spotify would ramp up to 320 kbps when using Automatic mode with a strong Wi-Fi connection , but as best I can tell, the service will max out at 160kbps with this setting.

Do Spotify Streams Count On Mute
Spotify will not count any streams that are on mute in the Spotify app, however, they may still count streams that are muted outside of the app .
Repeatedly streaming a song on mute could be seen as artificially increasing play counts and could result in that songs streams being taken away or that song being removed completely.
It is, of course, okay to stream music on mute from time to time. For example: muting Spotify and leaving it running for hours is something a real human might do every once in a while. However, doing this every day or extremely frequently might trigger a red flag for Spotify.
