Customize Your Library View
You can choose which headings are displayed at the top of your library. Tap the Library tab and then tap the Edit button in the top right to choose which items to add or remove. I find the Genre header, for example, to be useful for my browsing habits. And if you are a fan of classical music, perhaps you’d like Composers to be shown.
Also, don’t sleep on the Sort function when browsing the Albums or Songs views of your library. Tap Sort in the top right and to arrange Songs alphabetically by song title or artist name. Similarly, Albums can be sorted by album title or artist name.
Apple One Apple Watch App And Music Library
Three things will keep me using Apple Music over Spotify and, for me, they are a pretty big deal.
Starting with Apple One, I think is more convenient to pay one subscription for a lot of services rather than paying only Spotify for one service. With the Apple One Family plan, I have 200GB of iCloud storage, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, and Apple Music, and I can share all of these services with my family. For $19.95 a month, I have way more benefits instead of paying $9.99 per month for Spotify individual plan or $16.99 for a family subscription that only includes the music service.
Another big deal is the Apple Watch app. Im used to exercising without my iPhone nearby and the Apple Music app is way more useful. I can easily select my playlists and search among all the artists, albums, and songs that I have. I can even download playlists and albums for offline listening, which is currently unavailable on the Spotify Apple Watch app.
I also found the Spotify app a bit clunky. After two years without offering an Apple Watch app, Spotify still needs to make some improvements over its recently-launch app.

How To Find Public Playlists In Apple Music
There are a few ways to actually find playlists created by other Apple Music users.
- The simplest way is to simply receive a playlist from a friend or family member, of course.
- Another common way is to simply discover them in For You underneath the See What Friends Are Listening To subheading. Do keep in mind that any song, album or playlist that appears on this list are only from people on your friends list.
- If you want to find a public playlist from someone outside of your friends list, youll have to search for it. Just tap Search in the bottom right corner and enter a query. In the results list, just scroll down until you see Shared Playlists.
Once you find a playlist that you like, you can simply listen to it or add a copy of the playlist to your library.
Option : Search For Friends In Apple Music
If you know the username of a particular friend, theres a quicker way to find them. Apple Music has an integrated search function to help you look for friends. Its the same one you used to find your favorite artist, only this time its someone you know:
If you have trouble finding your friend, it doesnt necessarily mean they dont have an Apple Music profile. Sometimes the search function has trouble loading the results. Like most similar features, its not immune to glitches and bugs. Its caused mainly by an unstable connection, which is quickly resolved. Heres a list of measures you can take to fix the problem:
- Restart your device. A simple reboot will solve most problems.
- Clean up your storage space. Apps tend to underperform when theres not enough memory left.
- Update your iOS or Android OS. Downloading the latest framework might remove glitches.
- Turn iCloud Music Library off and on again. This is for iOS devices only. It may reboot the app.

Features Apple Needs To Add To The Apple Music Iphone App
Apple’s music-streaming app is just good enough to get the job done. But it could be much better with these added features.
Even though Apple Music is very popular, the service’s native iPhone app could use a whole bunch of improvements to make it more user-friendly. When Apple Music launched, Apple decided to bundle it into the stock Music app on iPhone. This led to an experience that mirrored iTunes, and the less we talk about that, the better.
With WWDC 2021 approaching, nows a good time to create a wish list for Apple Music improvements, and its probably a good idea to focus on the iPhone app because thats where most people use the service.

Master Your 3d Touch To Keep The Party Going
Nothing brings a party to a screeching halt and elicits more groans than abruptly stopping the song everyone is grooving to. And this is easy to do by mistake with Apple Music, especially if you have a 3D Touch-enabled iPhone. If you are lining up a song to play next, you need to 3D Touch it to bring up the contextual menu with the Play Next and Play Later options. If your 3D Touch gesture is unsuccessful and ends up being a simple tap instead, however, then the current song immediately stops, your guests groan and the song you just accidentally tapped begins. Make sure you are very deliberate when 3D Touching on a song to add it to your Up Next queue.
Older iPhones without 3D Touch have it easier in this regard just tap the triple-dot button to the right of a song to call up the contextual menu to add a song to your queue.

Making Purchases Is Easy So Is Setting Limits
When your family sets up purchase sharing, all new Apple Books and App Store purchases will be billed to the organizers account. But if Ask to Buy is turned on for children in the family, the organizer can still call the shots. When a child initiates a purchase, an alert is sent to the organizer, who can review the download and approve or decline it right from the organizers device. This applies to both purchases and free downloads.
Before your children can make a purchase, they must ask your permission.
How Do You Unfollow Someone In Apple Music
You can always change your mind with Apple Music. If you accidentally followed someone and would like to unfollow them, you can:
1. Launch Apple Music and go to your profile.

3. Find the person you want to unfollow and tap on their username.
4. Tap on the three horizontal dots on the right-hand side.
5. Select the option to Unfollow from the list.
If you want to make sure the person doesnt have access to your profile anymore, you can block them. Just follow steps 1-4 and then select Block instead of Unfollow.

Apple Music Vs Spotify: Sharing Is Caring
Both platforms make it easy to share music with your friends and family. With either app, you can share songs on your Instagram story, or even send a direct link on your social media platform of choice. While this is certainly useful, Spotify has a couple of tricks up its sleeve that give it a leg up over Apple Music.
Spotify Codes function like QR codes, allowing you to easily share songs and playlists with others.
For starters, Spotify gives you the option to create Collaborative Playlists, allowing you and your friends to make the perfect playlist for a Friday night in, or a Saturday night out. You also have the ability to quickly share songs and playlists through Spotify Codes, which can be generated and scanned within the app itself. Apple Music doesnt yet support collaborative playlists, but does support playlist-sharing.
Family Sharing Share Your Favorite Things With Your Favorite People
Family Sharing lets you and up to five other family members share access to amazing Apple services like Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple News+, Apple Arcade, and Apple Card. Your group can also share iTunes, Apple Books, and App Store purchases, an iCloud storage plan, and a family photo album. You can even help locate each others missing devices.

If You Run Into Trouble
A common issue is a family member using multiple accounts and logging into either Apple Music or iCloud with the wrong one. Thats the first thing to check if one person is having trouble accessing Apple Music.
Logging out and back in can sometimes fix issues that prevent you or a family member from accessing a Family subscription. First, try logging out of the affected Apple Music account and back in again. If that doesnt fix the issue, try doing the same thing with all of your Apple services. If neither of those work, try removing everyone from Family Sharing and adding them back. This is a little tedious, but following the steps above should make quick work of it.
And its as easy as that. If youre considering adding another service to share with your family, take a look at our roundup of the best music-streaming services. If you decide to change to another service, weve got a guide on how to cancel your Apple Music account.

Apple Music And Spotify Are Now Tied For Search Functionality
- Spotify now allows you to search for songs by lyrics.
- With Apple Music, you can search for songs using lyrics.
In terms of search functionality, Apple Music outshone Spotify for quite some time because it had a Search by Lyrics feature and Spotify didnt. How many times have you wanted to listen to a song only to remember the lyrics and not title? However, now Spotify has implemented this feature as well, so regardless of which service youre using, you can forgo Googling and type your lyrics directly into the apps search bar. Youll then be presented with the song with a small excerpt showing the lyric you searchedtalk about convenience.

Add To Library Vs Download
By default, the “+” button for a song or the “+ADD” button for an album adds it to your library but doesn’t download it for offline use, but you can change this. If you want everything on your Library tab to also be available when you are without a cellular or Wi-Fi connection, head to Settings > Music and toggle on Automatic Downloads. I would advise doing so only if you have an iPhone with lots of storage space or if you are particularly choosy about what you add to your library.
