Move The Amazon Echo Away From Wi
Imagine an invisible line between your Amazon Echo and your router, taking note of everything that it crosses. If the connection goes through a wall, it may be worth positioning the router or the Amazon Echo to avoid it, as the wall may be interfering with the signal.
Likewise, if there are any metal objects or Wi-Fi-enabled devices in the way, move them out of the way or position your Echo and router around them. These also can mess up your connection and make it spotty.
Alexa On Windows 10 Pcs
Announced way back in 2018, Amazon brought Alexa to Windows 10 PCs in partnership initially with companies like ASUS, Acer, and HP. While not specifically for interacting with an Echo, it does provide another outlet to handle Alexa, requests, and skills on your PC.
Amazon has since released a dedicated app for Windows 10 which can be used by everyone. It can’t be used to set up an Echo device you’ll still need to follow the steps above and use the web app for that.
But, it expands the reach and makes Alexa even more convenient to integrate with your life, and your home. It’s a little rough right now, but it’s a start.

On phones, select Device Settings in the upper right, then tap the Edit Name link under the name of the device. Type the new name for the device.
Does The Amazon Echo Dot Play Music
Before we begin, you might wonder if your Echo Dot can play music, since it’s not the full-sized Echo. The good news is that the Echo Dot, alongside like the Echo Spot and Echo Show, play music.
However, you should be aware that the Echo Dot only boasts a basic speaker, so the Dot isn’t great for playing music using Alexa. Thus, you’d be better off connecting your Echo Dot to another speaker for clearer playback. And here are the best Echo Dot speakers available right now.

Access Free Radio With Tunein
If youre not interested in the free tier of Amazon Music, you can always hit up the radio.
While Google obviously has YouTube to call on, theres no option for that on your Alexa speaker unless, of course, you’re trying to watch YouTube on the Echo Show. But there is the TuneIn radio skill, which will give you access to pretty much any radio station on demand.
Just say Alexa, play ” to get started. It should work automatically but say “Alexa, enable TuneIn skill,” if not.
How To Stream Music From An Amazon Echo To Other Bluetooth Speakers
October 26, 2020 by Kevin C. Tofel
On our most recent IoT Podcast episode, we listened to a message from Mark on our voicemail hotline. He has a few Harmon Kardon Invoke smart speakers that are unfortunately getting a little less smart. These speakers use Microsofts Cortana digital assistant, which wont be supported as of January. Invoke owners will need to upgrade their firmware at that point to end up with really good sounding non-smart Bluetooth speakers.
The good news is that you can pair a Bluetooth speaker with an Echo. We tested this process, although we dont have Invoke speakers that Mark has. However, he should still be able to follow the same steps.
The first thing wed recommend is to put your Bluetooth speakers in pairing mode. The process for this will differ based on the exact speaker brand you have.
Once the speakers are ready for pairing, open up the Amazon mobile app on your smartphone, and select the Devices option. Next, choose the Echo & Alexa option and tap on the Echo device you want to pair with your Bluetooth speakers. Finally, select Bluetooth devices and the Pair a New Device option to start the pairing process with your third-party speakers. In this case, Mark would choose his Harmon Kardon Invoke speakers.
And thats it! Now, all music and Alexa conversations will be heard through your non-Amazon speakers, which are presumably better sounding than the Echo Dot.

How To Play Apple Music On Your Amazon Echo Or Echo Dot
Amazon Echo speakers have Amazon Prime Music as the default music streaming service. It needs a separate payment and most users do not like it. If you have an Apple Music subscription and you wish to go with it, you can. We have linked Apple Music with Amazon Alexa and we will show you how we did it.
Let us see how to connect and play Apple Music on Amazon Echo or Echo Dot.
Playing Local Music Through The Cloud
This used to be our ideal way of playing your iTunes library, Apple Music subscribers aside. Anyone with a massive, curated iTunes library was able to pay just $24.99 a year to upload their songs to Amazons own cloud servers. It allowed you to take advantage of the space provided by Amazon, and made it easy to simply ask Alexa to play your favorite songs and artists. Unfortunately, Amazon announced at the end of 2017 that they would be discontinuing their Amazon Cloud Locker service. New users were accepted until January 15th, 2018, but anyone who signs up for Amazon Music currently will not be able to upload their music to the service. Furthermore, anyone who did have music uploaded to Amazons cloud service had access to their library cut off after January 2019, leaving Amazons locker for cloud songs completely defunct.
The shutdown of Amazon Cloud Lockers music section leaves the Amazon Echo in a frustrating place, especially for those with wide varieties of local music. If youre streaming from a paid service like Apple Music, its easy to predict that your library might not fit well together with Amazons own products, especially since they carry their own music streaming service, while also providing support for Spotify. Local music users, unfortunately, are seemingly out of luckor would be, if it wasnt for one of our favorite cloud platforms having an Alexa skill that makes it easy to play your music through Alexa.

You can play music from Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, or TuneIn radio on multiple Echos, so you can very easily have synchronised audio in a number of locations.
Unfortunately, you cannot use an Echo Dot to connect to another Bluetooth speaker while part of a multi-room group. If you had an Echo Dot in the living room that connected to an amplifier with Bluetooth, for example, you couldn’t maintain that connection while also playing on the larger Amazon Echo in the kitchen or bedroom.
Multi-room grouping also doesn’t work with third-party speakers using Alexa , it only applies to Amazon’s own speakers. While there’s a range of speakers in that group, it doesn’t give you the flexibility that Apple AirPlay 2 does when it comes to grouping.
You can play music from different sources on different Echos whenever you like. For example, you can play TuneIn Radio in the bedroom and Spotify in the kitchen. Which is a handy way to keep the family happy.
