When Did Olivia Rodrigo And Joshua Bassett Break Up
Its always a bit weird when the two romantic leads of a show seem romantically involved. Its even weirder and more intriguing when they leave behind a trail of pointed singles that seem to not-so-subtly reference each other.
Neither Rodrigo nor Bassett have ever confirmed whether they dated. But fans believe the pair started dating based on their chemistry both on screen and in interviews. Fans who believe this relationship happened also think the two broke up sometime in 2020 before the song drivers license was released. Filming for Season 2 started in February of 2020 before it was halted by COVID-19 shutdowns. It then resumed in November of 2020, about two months before the drivers license drop. So if youre looking for a timeline for this possible real life drama, there you have it.
What Will Happen In Hsmtms Season 3
HSMTMTS season 2 ends with East High deciding to pull out of the Alan Menken Awards for High School Musical theatre, so there is now potential for High School Musical: The Musical: The Series season 3 to focus on the school’s next winter musical as the students start a brand new year of school.
In terms of what we can expect in season 3, HSMTMTS showrunner Tim Federle let slip to Hollywood Life: “I always like picking up right where you left off because I think thats the nature of streaming TV today, which is very sensible. I have a couple of ideas for season 3, but ultimately its got to start at that greenlight so Im hoping to get the chance.”
As for romance, as it stands, Ricky and Nini have broken up, Gina and E.J. are together, Big Red and Ashlyn are together, Kourtney and Howie are together and Carlos and Seb are together but everything can change in a new season.
It looks like Ricky and Lily may start a relationship going into season 3. It also seems likely that Nini will start working with Gina’s brother Jamie on original music. Meanwhile, Gina and E.J. appear to have finally worked things out.
Not to mention, we’ll find out if Mr. Mazarra will decline his new job offer and begin dating Miss Jenn.

What Will The Musical In Hsmtmts Season 3 Be
There is no official word yet on what the High School Musical: The Musical: The Series season 3 musical will be. However, HSMTMTS showrunner Tim Federle told Hollywood Life: “Choosing the musical for the show is hard because there are so many possibilities. You can go way, way off, you can go High School Musical 3, you can create a new musical.”
After High School Musical: The Musical in season 1 and Beauty and the Beast in season 2, anything is possible. Listen out for easter eggs though. Nini mentioned Beauty and the Beast early in season 1, so a character could let slip the season 3 musical at some point during season 2.
Our bet is that it could be an original musical with songs written by Nini, Ashlyn and the rest of the characters.

Will Ricky Find Out Lilys Secret
While most of the characters in HSMTMTS end the season in a more assured place than when it first began, the same may not be true of Ricky Bowen . The character confesses to Miss Jenn, in the season 2 finale, that hes not quite sure who he is. Rickys sense of ambivalence is fueled in part by his emotional breakup with Nini, which occurs earlier in season 2. The split occurs not because of any one thing that either Ricky or Nini do wrong, but rather because Nini finds herself focusing more on her career aspirations. Although he often struggled to accept this fact, not always handling Ninis newfound success with grace, the couple eventually manages to amicably go their separate ways and they remain on good terms.
One last clue about season 3 of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series happens in the very last scene, as Natalie speaks to the camera in mockumentary style and says that the summer is about to get hot. This could indicate that the next installment of the Disney+ series might, at least partially, take place in the summer months. It would be a wise move since it allows for the characters to continue as high school students for longer than they otherwise. This would help in avoiding the common problem of what happens when teen drams move away from the high school setting. In any case, the show still has plenty of stories ready to explore.
Who Is In The Cast Of The High School Musical Tv Series
While the High School Musical TV series is based on the Disney Channel franchise, it will follow a cast of new characters.
So the characters played by Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens et al will not be included.
The Hollywood Reporter reported details surrounding the new characters.
Theres Ricky who is described as a snarky sweetheart, a B-minus student, and our star.
Ricky’s been dating fellow junior Nini for a year. When she unexpectedly breaks up with Ricky, he launches a bold plan to get Nini back by auditioning to star opposite her in the school’s production of HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL.
Nini is the other star of the show. Formerly relegated to the chorus of her school’s musicals, Nini just got back from summer camp, where she found her voice and confidence playing the lead in THE MUSIC MAN. Unfortunately, Nini also found a new boyfriend at camp. Drama.
Theres also EJ, Ninis new love interest who is an ambitious entrepre-nerd and the brash and gusty Ashlyn.
So far, only the role of Ricky has been cast.
He will be played by relative newcomer Joshua Bassett.
Bassett has also starred in Stuck in the Middle.

Whats Next For Asher Angel
Spending time at home re-energized Angel, and he is back full-throttle, ready to go.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods, in which he is set to reprise his role as Billy Batson, is slated to release during the summer of 2023. While working on the film, Angel is also creating new music that he is working on getting out there soon for the fans.
Most importantly, however, was this the last we will see of Jack, the charming, smooth-talking student with wanderlust according to the shows creators? Heres hoping.
Hopefully we have another recurring spot for Jack in the future, Angel said.
High School Musical: The Musical: The Series Season One Early Review
If High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, has anything , its highschool-ness for better or for worse. The original High School Musical film series has definitely earned a dedicated fan base over the years to say the least, skewing towards younger tween audiences for whom they have rode for three feature films and so much more content. Suffice it to say that this does not change whatsoever with this new part high school melodrama, part documentary hybrid series . As far as non-fans of the franchise are concerned, this new series will surely not convert anyone but for fans of the series or tween audiences, this may be up your alley. Anyone else, get ready for some real torture .
High School Musical: The Musical: The Series focuses on a trio of students including a pair of sophomores named Nini and Ricky as well as a senior named EJ . The three would find themselves in a love triangle of sorts as over the course of the previous summer at theatre camp, an insecure Nini moved on from the noncommittal Ricky to the good-looking, talented, and highly-ambitious EJ. Thanks to their high schools energetic new drama teacher Miss Jenn , a fan of musicals and a former extra in the original High School Musical, wanted to relive her glory days by suggesting that their school create their first ever theatrical production of High School Musical.
*The first two episodes will be available Week 1 of launch*

When school’s back in session, expect all of the following to return for season three:
- Olivia Rodrigo as Nini Salazar-Roberts
- Larry Saperstein as Big Red
- Dara Reneé as Kourtney Greene
- Frankie Rodriguez as Carlos Rodriguez
- Kate Reinders as Miss Jenn
- Joe Serafini as Seb Matthew-Smith
Jordan Fisher may also end up playing a bigger role in the future after his character, Jamie Porter, made an impact at the end of season two.
Of course, following Olivia Rodrigo’s incredible success as a solo artist, there are some concerns that Nini may go bye-bye very soon. Just recently, Olivia told The Guardian that she is “committed to HSM for two more years”, which bodes well for that season three renewal . However, it doesn’t seem likely that Rodrigo will stay beyond that as she wants to focus more on her own music moving forward.
“I think it’s really hard to split time between the two and there are very few artists who do that efficiently, because acting is based on being a good liar and presenting a version of yourself that’s believable, and being a songwriter is the complete opposite. It’s like, here are all of my deepest, darkest secrets and I want you to know me so personally.”
