What Was Wrong With Itunes
Everything. OK, we’re being facetious, but it had become very clunky on all platforms. While the experience improved hugely, it was once the worst piece of big-name software available for Windows with constant crashes.
iTunes had a classic case of feature creep – it was an app that started simply as a sync tool but in trying to do everything it became too sprawling and, frankly, confusing to use.
We’re amazed it wasn’t replaced before and surely it will also be replaced on Windows in due course as well.
Launch The Itunes App
The Apple iTunes app is launched with the icon found on the Home screen.
After launching the primary screen is displayed where you can browse the stores main page featuring music and the ability to switch to other media types that you are seeking.
Along the bottom of the screen you have the primary store departments of iTunes including Music, Movies, TV Shows. The current department is colored blue. The icons also include your Search function.
As you browse, you can also use a Genres filter on the upper left to filter the presented music by genre type like Pop, Country, Jazz, Classical to match your music tastes. Tap Genres and tap your desired filter.
Top of the screen also includes tabs for Featured and Charts. Featured includes New Releases, Pre-Orders for upcoming releases and sale items.
Tap on any item to bring up the info page for that item.

The Consumer Council Of Norway Eula Challenge
On June 6, 2006, The Consumer Ombudsmen in Norway, Sweden and Denmark launched a common open letter to Apple regarding the EULA of iTunes through the Norwegian Consumer OmbudsmanBjørn Erik Thon. The iTunes case is based upon an official complaint filed by The Consumer Council of Norway on January 25, 2006.
The main allegations were that:
Apple responded July 31, 2006.
On January 22, 2007, German and French consumer groups joined forces with Norway and Finland. Their goal is to create a united European front against iTunes . According to the press statement Apple is in favor of this. The key points in the negotiations were:
- Interoperability: the consumer should have the right and ability to play his or her music on any device of his or her own choice.
- Change of conditions: iTunes must revoke their right to change the terms and conditions at any time without the consent of the consumer.
- Liability: iTunes should change its clause limiting its liability to recover consumer damages if they are caused by content sold by iTunes.
- Applicable Law: Consumers entering into a contract with iTunes should be able to rely on the consumer protection rules according to the law of the country in which they live.

Another issue was whether you need to buy music at all when it seems to be readily available for free. Some commenters questioned the audio quality of digital downloads, and felt that justified downloading it for free. Others felt the corporate labels are already rich enough, and didnt deserve any more money. Others seemed to say that they dont pay for music because they dont believe the musician gets a big enough percentage. Apple said that iTunes was initially focused on burning and mixing songs on the Mac, but then suggested it was too big and bloated, and lost its purpose. “How about calendar in iTunes?” Apple engineering lead Craig Federighi joked during the presentation. “I mean, you can have all of your appointments and your best tracks all in one app!”

How To Enable The Itunes Store In The Macos Music App
Apple pushes its Music subscription service heavily, to the extent of killing off iTunes in macOS with the release of macOS 10.15 Catalina in 2019, and replacing it with several apps, including one simply called Music.
But if you subscribe to Apple Music, you might find you cant purchase music, only listen to it. Apple has retained the name iTunes just for purchases, as in the iTunes Store, and disables showing results from it by default when an Apple Music subscription is active.
Its easy to fix:
The Music app shows results without the iTunes Store , unless you check a box in preferences. Then you have the option to see purchaseable results, too .
Now you can search for music that may be in your library, Apple Music, and iTunes Store, or only in one of those three, and purchase it.
- Use the Search field in the upper-left corner and click the iTunes Store tab
- When viewing an album or song, click the button at the right of its listing or overlaid on the album art and select Show in iTunes Store.
