Can You Use 30 Seconds Of A Copyrighted Song On Instagram
While some experts say that using up to 30 seconds of a copyrighted song is safe, I always recommend that my clients use no more than three. Therefore, if youre using a very short snippet of a copyrighted song in your Instagram video, you will most likely avoid any flags especially if its a verse or bridge.

How To Add Own Voice To Instagram Reels
Sometimes, instead of music, one wants to add voice to Reels. The voiceover can be used to tell a story, add an introduction to the video, share an opinion, and similar things. While you can do it while recording the Reel, you can go a step ahead and mix the music and voice using Reels Voiceover feature.
For that, record your Reel on Instagram. You can add music or leave it as it is. Then hit the Next icon to go to the screen where you can add text, doodle, and stickers to Reel. Here you will find the Voiceover icon. Tap on it.
The Voiceover screen will open. Tap or hold the red record button to start recording your audio. You can add multiple recordings at various positions. Tap on Done to save the changes.
If you want to use both music and voice in your Reel, tap on the Mix audio icon on theReel edit screen. You will get two sliders Your audio and Music. Adjust them to balance the music and voiceover as per requirement. In case you want to remove or change the music, tap on the Edit icon under the music and hit the Delete icon.
Adding Music To Your Instagram Story Via Spotify

You can also add music from Spotify, whether it be a song, an album, or an entire playlist, to your story. Once again, this method is identical for both iPhone and Android devices. This is how its done:
The song will immediately be opened in your story, where you can make any additional adjustments. Once youre done, post it to your story. If your followers have Spotify accounts, they will be able to open the song in Spotify.

Why Cant I Add Music To My Instagram Stories
When the music sticker was first introduced, it was only available in select countries, including Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, Sweden, the UK, and the US.
The feature has since been rolled out even further, with Canada being added to the list in 2020.
If youre not in one of the countries with access to the music sticker, unfortunately, theres not much you can do other than sit tight right now.
If you live in a country where the feature is available but doesnt appear to be working as youd expect, it may be due to one of these reasons:
-
You need to update your app. Instagram frequently rolls out new updates, so you may be simply using an older version!
-
Youre using a business account. Due to licensing restrictions, business accounts may have a selection of royalty-free songs instead of more popular options. You could switch to an instead.
-
Youre sharing a branded content ad. that branded content ads should avoid GIFs, emojis, music, and more than one sticker.
Its unknown when other countries will have access to the music sticker, and if Instagrams licensing restrictions will change for business accounts, but well keep you updated.

Where To Find Music For Your Instagram
Use Instagrams library. Instagram has a large selection of music available for you to use completely free. As shown above, adding audio to Stories and Reels is also pretty easy to do. The downside is that you cant yet use Instagrams library in regular posts. Youre also mostly limited to 15 seconds from any given song, which might feel a bit too constraining.
Create your own music. In theory, you can just make any music that you find lacking in Instagrams library and create the exact experience youre looking for. In reality, making your own music is quite time-consuming and requires a lot of creativity. Luckily, n-Track Studio makes the process a bit more straightforward.
n-Track Studio is a complete music studio right on your Mac. Its easy and intuitive enough to pick up quickly, but offers advanced music mixing and recording features at the same time. Edit any track you have available , add effects, enrich your sound with drum samples, and bring your musical vision into reality.
License tracks. Even though music licensing is pretty complicated, there are a variety of platforms online that can help you find the right track and pick the right agreement. In the end, you can get a unique song not available on Instagram, but it could cost you quite a bit.
