Stay Away From English
More often than not, I cant concentrate on work if Im listening to music thats sung in English. As an English speaker, I think in English, so its like having another person in my head. There are exceptions, though, like if a singer really twists words around in an interesting way. So bands like Dirty Projectors , Talk Talk , and TV on the Radio have recently been great to listen to.
Otherwise, to stay focused Ive got to listen to either instrumental music, or music sung in a different language. For instrumental, I usually rely heavily on Tortoise , Jamie XX , and video game soundtracks. Cornelius is great because its mostly instrumental, and what spoken word there is, I cant understand since its Japanese. To that end, Ive also been sticking with Yura Yura Teikokus catalog, as well as mei ehara and Lamp . Those last two are really feel-good artists for me to put on. Arthur Verocais self-titled record also keeps me productive . Cameron Faulkner, Writer

Avoiding Earworms And Baby Shark
Podcasts, classical music, video game music, trance, white noise: Ive tried it all, and none of it seems to matter one bit. Personally, I go into a state of hyperfocus during most of my work day, and I dont wind up hearing any of it unless its so interesting or such a devastating earworm that I wind up hyperfocused on that instead. For me, its more about avoiding Baby Shark than proactively finding something to listen to.
On the plus side, it means I dont have to wear headphones at work! Sean Hollister, Senior news editor

Which App Should You Use For Listening To Music Together Online
There are a lot of different apps available today allowing us to stay connected with our friends, no matter where we live. Many have specific features, and the one that is right for your needs wont necessarily be the right choice for someone else.
If youre already a Spotify Premium member looking to listen and share music with friends or learn new music from others, then JQBX is a good option. Not only do you have the option of a private or public room, you also arent limited to only 5 friends.
If you dont want to be limited to Spotify, AmpMe is a great alternative. You can share music from your personal library or popular platforms like YouTube and Soundcloud, while also giving you the option of using a video chat with your friends too.
For a truly all-around sharing experience, the ad-free Rave subscription is definitely worth the cost. Not only can you stream music online, but you can also listen and watch YouTube, Netflix, or many other streaming services.
Spotify Listen To Music Without The Internet
Spotify probably doesnt need much of an introduction. They are among the most popular music streaming apps available, and you might be using it already. They are quickly becoming a destination for podcast content as well.
Their extensive catalog is near unmatched, or at the very least on par with just about any other streaming app you can name. If theres something youre looking for, theres a good chance theyve got it.
To this point, its entirely possible youve used it mostly online. When you arent connected to WiFi, tracks are greyed out and cannot be selected.
To listen to music offline, it is necessary to download tracks. There is a bit of a catch though. While the app itself is free, you cannot download music or podcasts unless you upgrade to Premium for $9.99 month.
Many feel this added functionality is worth the cost, but well leave that decision to you.

Rules Of Golf Explained: Our Expert Says
Rule 4.3a covers the use of audio and video on the course and, if youre going to risk subjecting your playing partners to Spotify, its worth reading this section pretty carefully.
But you should show consideration to others so dont get your 80s Ghetto Blaster out and turn the dial up to 11. Rule 1.2a, covering conduct expected of all players, classes not distracting the play of another player as an example of showing such consideration.
What isnt allowed is listening to music, or audio, either to block out distractions or to help with swing tempo.
Does wearing headphones eliminate distractions by their very nature? Id certainly be concerned about anything noise cancelling. I know of one player, for example, that wears an earphone in one ear with the other free. Here, as long as what was being played wasnt helping with swing tempo, I think that player would be OK under the Rules.
Looking wider, what would be classed as eliminating distractions or helping swing tempo? Loud volume, or rhythmic audio? It feels a bit subjective and theres no further clarification. As with many things in the Rules of Golf, I think it comes down to acting with integrity and according to the spirit of the game.
So, with all that in mind, if you do want to listen to something while out on the course, may I suggest the NCG Podcast?
