Protect your investment with the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty

A warranty can be a very important factor when making a buying decision. Because repairs can be very expensive in terms of parts and labour costs, manufacturers usually only provide one year limited warranties that generally only cover items that malfunction due to a manufacturers defect. With an important purchase such as a musicalinstrument or piece of studio gear, however, many people want to have the peace of mind in knowing that their investment will be protected should the product no longer be performing at 100%.

Because of this, Long & McQuade provides our customers with a FREE one-year Performance Warranty on most of our products. The Long & McQuade Performance Warranty supplements the manufacturers warranty to ensure that our customers receive complete no hassle warranty coverage within their first year.

How does the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty differ from most manufacturers’ warranties?
Purchasing additional years of coverage

Some manufacturers provide warranties for longer than 1 year however, these are usually limited warranties that do not provide the same coverage as the Long & McQuade Performance Warranty. Customers interested in more complete and convenient coverage are still able to purchase additional years of the Performance Warranty.

Akai Mpc Studio: Performance And Verdict

In pure hardware terms, the MPC Studio makes a fine controller, at a sensible size. Its compact and spacious enough to swing those pad-hittin fingers. Lets begin by observing that theres something strangely satisfying about hardware transport controls. And the pads? Sure, theyre proper MPC pads. Playing beats on them is fine as-is, and theyre pressure and velocity sensitive, though you might need some adjustment for playing more delicate instrument parts there are options for setting pad sensitivity which will deal with this. With the right tweaks for personal style, these will handle anything from finger drumming to piano performances.

There are no knobs to tweak, but the assignable touch strip comes into play, with a vertical bar next to it, similar to Apples MacBook Pro Touch Bar, showing symbols relevant to the current parameter.

NI Maschine Mikro The Akai MPCs and the Native Instrument Maschines are clearly lined up against each other. Both ranges are capable of producing any variety of sound, but both skew towards beatmaking. The Maschine Mikro is a hardware controller, coming in a bundle that includes the full Native Instruments Maschine software.

The mode button is the key to accessing many other functions directly from the pads, for example, the step sequencer hardware sequencers are always fun to use and this is no exception in fact that was probably the most enjoyable time we spent with the Studio pads.

Introducing Mpc Studio Black

The MPC Studio Black is a fresh take on the top-selling original, MPC Studio. We made the Studio look cooler than ever by introducing a sleek and stylish black brushed-aluminum body. To elevate the parameter editing experience, the master encoder wheel as well as the Q-Link knobs have been raised and made larger. The 16 RGB MPC pads are now thicker and more responsive, inspiring greater expression in performance and programming.

What You See Is What You Get

The MPC Studio has a very compact, yet sturdy imprint. It still has the solid durable feel shared by all MPC hardware, and yet is considerably smaller than the previous-generation MPC Studio. Measuring only 305 x 171 x 37 mm, it sits tidily on any desk without taking up too much space. Included in the box are a USB cable, two MIDI breakout cables and instructions on how to get started.

When compared to its predecessor, the MPC Studios screen has undergone a massive reduction. However, the crispness of the OLED screen is great despite being very small in size. It is difficult to say if this is a disadvantage as the MPC Studio can be permanently connected to a computer and you can utilise its software interface instead. Personally, we dont think it is a drawback and it still gives you some feeling of standalone music production.

If you are coming from the free MPC Beats software or from another way of beatmaking entirely, this is a great way to get into the MPC ecosystem. The dedicated buttons make for an engaging way to interact with the software.

There are 39 buttons on the controller which make for quick selection and mode changing. The full-size pads are a lot of fun to play with, and also provide shortcuts to various modes. The pad sensitivity is adequate and also fully adjustable in the software.

Touch Strip Production Hacks

One of the most useful features of the controller is the assignable touchpad on the left of the controller. Measuring the height of four MPC pads, it just begs to be used for sound tweaking and effect manipulation. Use it to add creative spice to anything, from beat repeat time divisions, parameter automation, pad velocity, filter cutoff frequency, and even playing notes.

Once you discover its full potential, it really is a Swiss army knife-style control that can really speed up your workflow.

Assignable Touch Strip Control And Expression

Akai MPC Studio Music Production Controller, Black at Gear4music.com

Make sounds your own with the assignable Touch Strip. This fluid controller bends and shapes your sounds however you want. Make that pad synth more mysterious with a swell, control the roll of your hi-hats to fill your trap drumbeat, or make that guitar part more realistic by articulating the strum right where you need it. Assign any of the numerous knobs, sliders, and parameters to the Touch Strip for new and inventive manipulation of any track.

Compatibility With Hardware Mpcs

The MPC software supports the import and export of programs, sequences and samples to and from legacy MPCs. This means you can migrate your existing productions into the computer domain, or potentially use the MPC Studio as an on the road companion to your home MPC hardware. The update to V1.3 of the software resolves some of the earlier issues importing projects from legacy MPC machines, successfully importing all the MPC 1000, 2500 and 5000 projects I could find. There is still no support for MPC5000 synth programs or hard drive audio, but otherwise all song, sequence, sample and program information import without fault. Exporting projects from the MPC software back into an MPC 5000 also works reasonably well, although the usual tweaking to filters and effects when transferring projects between different MPC models applies.

Akai Mpc Studio: What Is It

Akais MPC Studio joins the MPC range, which comprises the MPC One, MPC Live, and MPC X. The Studio is a USB MIDI device that connects to a computer and controls the included MPC 2 DAW software the other MPCs can also do this, but also function as fully standalone sequencing/sampling devices.

Consequently the Studio is more compact and more affordable than its siblings, giving potential users a choice that reflects their budgets and preferred working habits. It replaces a previous MPC Studio model, now discontinued, which had a more square-shaped layout, so dont get the two mixed up this one is technically the MPC Studio II.

The box includes the Studio, a USB cable, and two 3.5mm-DIN MIDI cable adaptors. The top panel bears the 16 familiar MPC pads, sturdy rubberised pieces with coloured LED rings around each one, a vertical control strip, an array of buttons, a small LCD display, and a larger data dial.

At the back youll find a USB port , and 3.5mm MIDI in and out. Its powered by USB, so theres no need for a mains adapter. Once the device is registered, a variety of downloads are available, most important being the MPC 2 software.

MPC 2 will host AU and VST plugins, although this can be turned on its head, as MPC 2 will itself function as a plugin inside other DAWs, creating fascinating possibilities for complex setups. A DAW within a DAW, who wouldnt want to try that? . The Studio hardware still works when MPC is acting as a plugin, by the way.

Premium Pads For Perfect Production

Pad performance is the top priority for any beat maker. With MPC Studio, you can be confident that every beat and note will be right on time, every time. Velocity-sensitive RGB pads mean maximum expression, whether youre playing soft melodies or booming kick drums with colored visuals to keep track of your velocities and pad groupings. Switch from Note to Chord Mode quickly and build out your tracks right as inspiration strikes.

Akai Mpc Studio Review: The Legend Returns

Beats on the go and beats on a budget the new Akai Professional MPC entry-level controller gets a revamp with some interesting updates to both hardware and software.

The Akai MPC has dominated and defined pad-based groovebox music for decades. It all started in 1988 with the MPC60, made famous by many hip-hop, electronic music and pop producers. With an exuberant 26.2 seconds of sample time and 12-bit sampling quality, the MPC60 paved the way for funky grooves and simplified MIDI sequencing in the studio or on stage. Later MPC successors brought more sample time and higher fidelity, while only slightly updating the form factor and sequencing functionality. Whichever MPC you choose, you can always rely on solid beatmaking and sequencing hardware.

Fast-forward to 2021, and the MPCs workflow and hardware have yet again been refined and redefined into a new entry-level controller and software package.
